Default biking holiday ideas

Me and the missus have got a week off at the end of the month, and we've been looking at getting some last minute flights to somewhere nice,

but basically i've been thinking about goin on the sv gettin the ferry into france, and going camping or maybe paris, but lookin at the prices for a week in paris it cover the costs of flying to ibiza or somthing (which would suit me) and even a weeks camping is something like £200-£300 coupled with the cost of petrol and the ferry, well you get the idea

anyway, does anybody know of any nice places to camp in brittany or similarly proximitied places, might be willing to travel a little further, but this will be the first proper long journey, so any tips from those who do it freqently??

http://www.bike-stay.net/france/index.html

check out the places on here, just click on the area in the list and it'll direct you to biker friendly B and Bs and such. We stayed in a Bn B in Peuplingues last year, down the road from Calais..cheap, very clean, welcoming, and didn't mind 3 bikes roaring in at 10.30 at night, after a rain soaked ten hour drive through France!
Think it were 65 euros for 3 of us over night...bargain

Also have a look in the Euro tour section in the regionals on here, think theres a sticky thread with good info

Spain. There are some excellent roads - most of which I know down the south of spain. Closest airport being Malaga.

The roads are bendy, really high visibilitiy wide and good surfaces.

Bad time of year for it thought - really hot and too many tourists overthere

Have you thought about heading to the Vosges in eastern France, hills/small mountains but a lot nearer than the Alps? The Ardennes in southern Belgium are also worth a thought, both near enough if part of a week trip from the channel ports.

What Tim's trying to say is you could get as far as the Ring.
Brittany is quite a long haul from the Calais area & expensivefor St Malo ferries. Nice area though.

Pretty much what I was gonna post, but when I read my post it sounded pretty gung-ho so deleted it.

Get a good map (Michelin maps of France are good) and avoid the main roads, look for wiggly 'D' roads and have fun. Don't worry about finding B&B / Hotels, if you arrive in a town before 5.30 go straight to the Office du Tourisme for help on finding a hotel in your budget.

EDIT: If you want a good hotel guide, I find the Logis de France VERY good. Get one of their guides if you can, you will find hotels of all standards. If you want cheap and cheerful, try taking a Formule1 guide, although these tend to be in big towns only and stuck on the industrial estate.

I can 100% agree having sampled many of the best routes down here.
