short term buildings insurance

whilst shredding old paperwork I decided to start phoning gas electric insurance etc to tell them to cancel stuff from 19th July. Notice that houseinsurance was due for renewal on 22nd June and I had not received renewal. checked bank statement and payment came out on 16th June. so phoned them. they have no record of me. the policy number is listed to someone else. fraud department now involved. dd cancelled and indemnity claim for payments made since feb. my problem is where do I get buildings insurance for 8 days without paying huge premiums or just not bother and hope place doesnt fall down by 16th.

You could take out a policy, and then be a bit naughty and cancel it shortly afterwards . . .

8 days would be within the cooling-off period would it not?

For 8 days I really wouldn't bother. You've had none since June 22nd so another week won't kill you.

As mentioned by others 8 days is within the cooling off period. Were you only insured from Feb or was the original policy meant to start earlier? If it was longer and you were never covered make sure you get back all payments made on just from Feb.

careful tho - buildings insurance is usually a condition of mortgage. Some cover is better than none.

i was insured from last june and was paying £6.68 (very cheap I know) then in February payments went up to £10.58 - meant to query it but never got round to it, im so rich I can afford the extra £4. getting payments back since price increase in feb.
