Default Scottoiler woes - continuous dripping?!

Hi guys,

Got some woes with my scottoiler. Took me a while at the weekend to try and work out how to fit the vacuum thinggy and now I have I'm not convinced I've fitted it correctly, as it's continuously leaking...

I removed the 'black cap' that was on the vacuum bit next to the throttle body, and stuck the L-Shaped black bit of plastic onto it. Then I attached the thin 'vacuum' tube and ran it into the top of the RMV. I thought that this was the proper way to do it, and that you didn't need any of the other connectors (ie it just used the L-shaped piece)...

From researching other sites/forums/posts I'm not convinced I've done it correctly, as when I came back from the stands yesterday (went to the Silverstone Classic - was great!!) there was a puddle of oil under my chain - likewise there was also a puddle this morning.

So - I'm thinking in light of my research and amazing powers of deduction that I've cocked something up - but don't know what?!

Can I call on the almighty .org for some suggestions?

Cheers,

Al.

Okies, dont think there is anything wrong with taking the vaccum feed form there. Not seen it done like that, but should be ok. Check out the Scotoiler website. They have fitting guides on there for 99% of bikes.

I reckon that you have the Resiviour turned to Purge. Ontop of the bit you put the oil in is a dial, tune it fully anti clock wise, then set it if you can at about 3. This should be fine. Check the drip rate (About 2 a minute in this heat) and leave it.

Well the vacuum tube is used to open the valve in the scottoiler and it seems this is permanently open. Now it sounds like you have fitted the vacuum pickup in the right place so the valve should only be open with the engine running.

Disconnect the vacuum tube from the RMV and see if it still drips, if it does you probably have a faulty valve in the RMV, phone scottoiler they will sort that out for you as they are great on customer service.

Cheers guys - I hoped the fitting was OK; I based it on the .pdf installation supplied by Scottoiler so I thought it should work.

I'll go down and disconnect the tube and see what happens when I come to ride home this evening - on the plus side, my chain is lovely and wet

I checked the dial position as I had the same thougth as you, Viney, but it seemed to be set OK (was set half way between 'Purge' and 'Prime').

Cheers all,

Al.

Takes a while to fiddle with it, I am still sorting the drip rate as last week I emptied a 1000 miles worth of oil in a day, was set to just below prime.....oops. One of my chains has never been so lubed.
