SV650 Centre Stand
Just seen this on the Internet.
http://shop.wemoto.com/pictures.dyn?u=5834298qqq5828124 Has anyone tried one. Are they any good. More importantly, are they easy to fit and are they robust enough to hold your bike. Also, are they worth the money (£90)? Not looking to buy one just yet, but may do in a few weeks when it comes to take my bike off the road for the winter. Thanks for your time |

Re: SV650 Centre Stand
i personally dont have any experience with th centre stand...
however...the only benefit i see that having a centre stand with give you is when ur working on the bike / cleaning the chain etc....(someone correct me if im wrong?...i suppose it would be a little more stable when parking up) so id rather spend half the money on a paddock stand....and for that money you could have a set...front and rear padock stands i think..... just a thought! |

Re: SV650 Centre Stand
Got a set of paddock stands already which I use when the bike is off the road for a bit (and when I am cleaning the chain etc), but I was thinking maybe it would be a bit more stable than the side stand when I am 'out and about'.
It seems a bit expensive for what would be just an extranagant extra. Rather save up a few extra quid and get a new exhaut (or do some IAM/Bikesafe stuff) |

Re: SV650 Centre Stand
I've got that centre stand in my loft. I never put it on the bike, but my partner insisted that I bought one for 'maintenance reason', I've also considered selling it cause I don't flippin want it
I can't get a bike on a centre stand anyway, but Im Indoors obviously knew better than me when he got me to order it!! grrrrr If I ever fitted it to the bike, it would be for 'maintenance' then I'd rip the damn thing back off again when it was done, purely cause an SV comes on a sidestand, and it would be in the way

Re: SV650 Centre Stand
Harsh words for 'im indoors'. Like it.
Do you have to remove the side stand to put the centre stand on. If so then the decision to buy has been made. Can't be bothered taking the side stand off just so that I can put on an aftermarket centre stand, that hasn't had any good feedback. Side stand (and paddock stands in the winter) it is. |

Re: SV650 Centre Stand
like I said its never gone near the bike, still in its packaging. And (as I really took much interest in it) the instructions are all in German, mind you IIRC the 'big pictures and letters' info wasn't needed as I could understand it clearly!
IF anyone wants a centre stand I could be gently persuaded to sell it....lol

Re: SV650 Centre Stand
If you want it to eradicate paddock stands for working on your bike then i'd fork out the same sort of money for an abba stand
At least it's not attached to the bike causing extra weight. Also if you come to sell the bike you still have your abba stand, all you got to do is purchase the fixing kit for your new steed at a cost of approx £15. Jobs a good'un guv'na. |

Re: SV650 Centre Stand
Abba stands look good. Might be going on the Xmas list (along with that new exhaust).
Like the ease of putting the bike up on your own and the fact that it doesn't load the suspension. Thanks for the tip. Think the centre stand may well be a thing of the past already. |
