Decorating/interior design ideas: Resources and help - SV650.org

After weeks of farting around with mortgage application forms, bank statements, driving licences, passports, cash deposits, solicitors fee's, booking fee's, valuation fee's, survey fee's, document preparation fee's, fee fee's and fee tax, it looks as though I might actually get a house for all the messing around with forms and money.

The missus is going bananas looking at "trendy" wall paper to go down one wall and "Then we can paint the other 3 walls a nice complementary colour". I like to think I'm straight forward and therefore, what's fashionable now will actually need peeling off in 4 years time because it's not very fashionable anymore. I'm quite happy using a nice neutral cream colour on 3 walls and then having one wall a bit of a contrasting colour. And carpets which feel nice and don't have a pattern where spiders can hide by simply standing still.

I'm wondering how far the org can go in constantly re-affirming itself as the font of all knowledge, so here is my question: Can anyone* recommend some good websites with design themes or decorative ideas for the home? Just simple, tasteful, nice stuff. Failing that, are there any good magazines or books which might give us some good ideas?

I just don't want my living room to look like the inside of a dior handbag.

*Anyone who provides a good suggestion may well receive an invite to the house warming

Black wallpaper with upside down crucifix print. Good music collection in the corner. Some stuff hung on wall to make casual visitors uneasy.

It would be a talking point at least

ahhh, the missus is in nest building mode.

May I suggest you leave the country now, and come back after she has finished, as she may try roping you into moving walls, and complaining the bathroom would be better placed on the roof or something...

we've already got plans to smash the wall between the bathroom and toilet room to make.... a super washroom!
