Default Horrible horrible horrible

I have a Dentist Phobia.

Last month I broke a tooth and ended up sat in the Dentist's chair crying with panic as I had my tooth repaired. As she finished she informed me that I needed to have my wisdom teeth removed, apparently my mouth is too small for all of my teeth (who would have guessed?) and some had to go.

So today it was a trip to Bristol to be sedated and have my wisdom teeth extracted. By the feel of it and the amount of blood still pooling in my mouth, this was done with a crow bar and pliers with maybe a side dish of lump hammer...

Now I am back home and laying on the couch feeling very sorry for myself and wondering if I can ever face civilised company again, now my smile is some what smaller and covered in blood...

There is one good thing to come out of this, next week I am going back to the Dentist for a polish, if I can cure this phobia, maybe I will be able to get those vampyre fangs I always wanted... fitted permanently!

Heading back to my couch now for more self pitying misery and maybe some cool Sci Fi movies with the Wife.

Hugs to you all.

Oh poor you, I know just what you mean about the phobia with Dentists, when I was a kid my mum used to take us to this Dentist who used to give you fillings without any novacaine or injections. I still cringe now to think about it and my phobia is well seated so you have my complete sympathy.

nowt wrong with dentists. I've had the same one since I got my first teeth. I'm one of the few that have spanned his entire career, and have one of the best sets too ( his words not mine)

my mouth is very small, and there were concerns about wisdom teeth fitting in there, but he left them to see what they would do, they came through no bother, pretty skew wiff though, he said theres no point in ripping em out if they don't bother me.
Now he has my son too to look after..apparently theres not many six year olds in HX with exceptionally healthy teeth.....
...thats pretty frightening really, kids should have lovely teeth, its usually adults that get problems, but its fairly common for kids to have gammy ones...eugh

Thoroughly feel for you there Jayne, I can't stand the dentist, bad experiences all round

Good luck with getting those fangs though, make sure you post pics up when you get them! One thing, won't it make eating difficult?

yes it does. My mate had one on a denture thingy. Fangs on a brace palate. She could only drink through a straw and eating was nigh on impossible. good job she could take em out after a night out

Ouch, I do pity you, I had all my wisdoms out about 10 years ago, ended up being off work 3 weeks as I lost so much blood during the op.

But my biggest phobia is going to the hairdressers, I dread this much more than the dentist. Weird, I know.

well thats what I thought, so having it permanently done must either be a huge commitment or they've come up with a suitable solution

Hate dentists to - to the point that my wisdom teeth had rotted and i had to have time off work for cronic tooth/head/i want to die ache. Went to the emergency dentist and OMG a scary woman patched me up and refered me to a wisdom tooth removal expert. Two weeks later after recieving the letter i was in the chair with the mrs holding my hand needle in hand an out like a light...............Sedation is the best! ............................ Came around to a euphoric warm fuzzy feeling with the mrs driving which was really cool with quad vision and had no probs with pain/blood/dribble went home and had no problems with infection either.

Moral of the story..... make sure they sedate you!
