because I had written "Just trying to get rid of the thing so make me an offer"...

They must have only started doing that recently, 'cause when I sold my motocross bike I put that and didn't have any problems.

You'd have to say something like, as it is against ebay policy I WILL not take any offers

Could have put something like ' advertised elsewhere, listing will end if outside offer of sale made'

Any intelligent Ebayer would have sent you an email via the 'email seller' link on the listing page.

Trouble is you could get a offer from some West African scammer doing it this way!
