Default Hi from another newbie

Hi All,

After some great advice on lowering seat heights (I'm only 5'4") I finally got myself an SV650SX (from a nice guy up near Ponty), so thought I should introduce myself to the local community - Hi.

Can anyone recommend a good place to get spares: the bike I bought has need of some repairs (I already got brake levers from eBay, but still need handlebar end, indicator, probably some new plastics etc).

Also I'm going to have to get a 33Bhp restrictor fitted - can anyone recommend a place for getting that done? (I'm in Chepstow so near to Bristol, Newport, Cardiff etc).

It will take me a while to get on the road but you'll recognise me as my new pride and joy has a custom paint job (white and blue) and a scratch or two to add individuality. Sadly I won't be about before the Christmas meet, but will try to get involved in the new year.

Hi, aftermarket bar ends and indicators are available everywhere unless you want exact ones from the SV. Try SouthWales Superbikes in Newport or Fowlers in Bristol or Bevan's in Cardiff. As for new plastics, here or ebay are the main places. As for 33bhp the nearest bike garage i know to chepstow is SouthWales superbikes or Cwmbran Motorcycles who'll fit them. But it will cost you £200 because of stupid FI international charging you when you can buy the restrictors yourself and restrict it yourself (or pay someone to do it). There might be a local bike garage in Chepstow but i've not come across one (i'm in newport which is why i suggested cwmbran motorcycles). If you sourced the spares yourself, you can contact a local garage to fit them or someone on here will give you a hand with an indicator or bar end as they are pretty simple to put on. Plastics if your going for a respray might be cheaper to get them repaired too and then sprayed.

Sorry for the longish reply if you can make any sense of it let me know. And don't forget to post a reply in the wanted forum.

If you fancy coming into the Forest of Dean there is a bike shop in Coleford, BikerDean, and one in Cinderford, Haines & Co. Both are in the 'phonebook and I can recommend them both, although for something like a 33bhp restrictor I would probably go for Haines & Co.

BTW, welcome to the site etc, etc.

Hi Heather, I'm not in your neck o the woods, but HElllllllooooo!. I think I know which bike you have bought actually, was it from a fellow orger?
Rather than searching for new panels, maybe I could suggest, taking them to someone who specialises in car repairs. In that I mean..up here we have a company that deals with bashed cars, and they put panels back to like you'd never believe, matching the colours up. If you could find one down there, any decent one should be able to deal with your custom paint, and repair it back to its former glory. I've got a black cuvy thats currently got a nice crack up the fairing, and replacement ones are like rocking donkey poo, so I am going down this route, as every colour is available apart from mine, unless they are more bashed than mine!
