Gloves tip - getting lining back into place

I discovered this last weekend after a long wet ride, had not heard it before and thought it might be of some use to someone else.

When you take off winter gloves and the thermal linings come out of the fingers, it can be a pig to get them back in, particularly if the gloves were damp and have been dried with the linings out of position. Fortunately, your bike has a near perfect device for forcing the lining back into the figures, without risk of tearing it. Putting the gloves lining "finger" on the ball at the end of your clutch/brake lever allows you to use both hands to pull the glove so that it goes back into the finger. Much quicker/easier and requires less strength (handy when you have cold hands) than pulling it onto your hand with the other hand.

can you not just hold the fingers to stop this happening in the first place? as doing that will knacker the gloves

Sometimes it's the first time lining has come away in a particular glove (this was for me for this pair) and hence you aren't in the habit of pinching the finger as you remove the glove. Also, in spite of doing this, it can still come away; my old winter gloves used to do it when I took them off, no matter what I did.

If it does happen for whatever reason, I'd suggest the perfectly round ball is less likely to knacker the lining than your fingernails and also the amount of force required when doing it is considerably less (and hence less likely to tear the lining) than putting your hand in and pulling the cuff really hard to force your lining-covered fingers into the outer bit of the glove, which is what I did previously.

To help avoid this happening, pick up some plastic gloves on the petrol forecourt and wear then as inners. Allows your hand to slide in and out easily. Makes putting damp gloves back on easy, especially if your hands are wet/damp.
