Default Is anyone a chef on this here site?

I'm pondering, have been for a couple of years, about training as a chef. Can't be a postie forever! Definately want to get involved in something I'm passionate about. Is it worth it?
Or should I just keep cooking as a hobby? Does anybody have any experience in this career?

twin bro was.

packed it in as it was

Stupid hours including split shifts
crap money
crap conditions

Although he used to spit his dummy and walk out of a kitchen at lunchtime and have a new job by dinner. He knew things were getting bad when he had to wait until the next day to start. His record was 13 jobs in one year. He did not like something he would walk.

Compensations though, chefs have first shout when it comes to nailing fit waitresses

Wasn't Hall13UK a chef? Does he still come here?

My own experiences of working with them echoes xxxBadgerxxx's. I question how happy you can be when you're that ****ed off and highly strung all the time and it's not a career I'd consider.

Well I *DID* help with the BBQ at AR08 - and I *DID* get a bit shouty* at times - does that count?

Thought about it a few times, but didnt fancy the hours, the pay-cut and the attitudes.

However if you did the training and then opened your own place as Head Chef - then maybe.

I hear theres a Biker Cafe nr Todmorten that may be up for sale soon........

* Shoutyness was at people to come get food to eat

Jax said she had to stop as she made Gordon Ramsay seem polite, plus the pay and hours where awful.

Hmmm Jax in full "makes Gordon Ramsey blush" mode ....... Almost makes it worth thinking about pushing Grinch off his bike to see it seem like a good idea :P
