Default air filter on GSXR600 - help needed

HI All,

so i thought i'd install the k&n air filter on the gsxr600 (k this morning. lifted up the tank, cheked the instruction manual that said remove 11 screws (then showed 10 in the pic and i only found 10 holding the filter cover on), dropped a screw down the frame (arrrghh!).

so, all screws out but the filter cover will not lift off, if you go round the sides with your fingers then you can lift all the way round but the thing seems to be stuck at the back and towards the middle.

so at the moment i just cannot lift the top of the filter cover off, i've tried just using force and it is just stuck there.

has anyone got any ideas ??????

Thanks

Not been anywhere near a K8, but are there any clips you need to press down?

i've looked everywhere and cannot find a thing - i found a sample suzuki workshop manual somewhere on the net and it implies you just take it off - rather like the SV, unscrew then lift, nice and easy.

I'll look at it tomorrow then just may just leave it till it gets a service later this year then get the dealer to do it.

right - sorted ! there was indeed a screw in the centre that i had to get a super duper long screwdriver down to.

so, new filter fitted.

I've done a lot of checking on this and the bike should need no modification.
I have been told i shouldn't need any mods for a yoshimura as well but i'm not too convinced about that.

will do mate, not sure when i'll be out on it next. if weather and more importantly the roads get better soon then it'll be sooner rather than later.

Every bike is different, yours might need setting up but like i said Fizz's 750 was ok as far as i know so you might be lucky. You'll soon find out after a couple of rides!!!
