Default GI pro gear indicator

Got one in blue

Have to say I love it

Easy installation just unplug the GPS and loop it in, it did require a mini set up (it thought 2nd was first, 3rd was second etc), once that was done it was spot on, every gear is accurate including neutral.

Mainly stops me going for 7th gear and avoiding downshifting to first too often.

I'm thinking of getting one of these. There appear to be two versions. The GiPro with built in advance TRE for £106 and the GiPro DS for £99.99 without TRE. Can someone please explain what the advantages of having TRE are?

TRE is the power reduction thing Suzuki has in the first 4 gears which limits torque or something, IIRC.

When i fist got my bike i really did thik i'd need one of these and wanted one.

Loads of friends kept telling me the same thing tho, it doesnt matter what gear you're in - if you need to go up, you shift up, if you need to go down you shift down.

I still do go for that elusive 7th gear from time to time tho, i'll find that bugger one of these days, lol.

£106 is a lot of money for knwoing what gear you're in tho isnt it?

It's great! I got mine free with my bike

I do look at it all the time - sometimes instead of looking at the speedo - it gives me a better (more understandable) idea of what speed I'm doing

Interested to know about the set up though Hob? as I didn't have to go through it. Although mine is an Acu...? not GI, but it looks the same. so you say it learns it, but got it wrong first time how do you teach it? I don't seem to have any input.
Interested to know what will happen if I decide to change my gearing.

£106 is a lot of money for something that I would agree is a luxury item. Then again, one could also argue that changing the standard exhaust to something that sounds more throaty is also a luxury and not strictly speaking necessary.
I notice that the Gladius has a built-in gear indicator.

The advantages of the GiPro over the Acumen is that it plugs directly into the dealer mode switch under the seat and so receives its messages directly from the CPU. In theory, this means that it has a quicker response when changing gear.

i really did want one at first, im still really tempted by one, but i have learnt more about how my bike sounds by having to listen to the engine to know what gear im in, so maybe its best i didnt get one
i do go for 7th gear all the time though when on motorways etc :s im just glad no one can see me do it lol
