The only thing to mention really is the straigh across the water to Portland from Weymouth gets pretty windy sometimes with crosswinds. Its worth it though nice views up on Portland Bill.

I am happy to explore some of the roads in west dorset but there are also....zig zag hill for example...from Fordingbridge to Cranborne to sixpenny Handley and up towards shaftesbury, there is a nice little tea and coffee place on the B3081 near compton abbas.
