Default Sneaky Speed Scamera Vans...

Thought a thread on places where the Talivan like to hide may be useful, after I spotted a particularly sneaky one today.

B5105 From Cerrigydrudion to Ruthin - where you enter the 30 limit in Ruthin, minor road joins from left (signed for Clocaenog) and road bends to left. Camera van parked out of sight up the minor road clocking vehicles heading into Ruthin. It will get your rear plate so make sure you get down to 30 at the sign post.

good idea luckypants

A64 at the sliproad for tadcaster (a659), They use an unmarked renault master with tinted windows on the rear. Although it's parked on the east bound direction, they sometimes park it facing opposite ways as it gets a really good view about a third of a mile up the west bound carriageway. Then further up the a64 in either direction, they usually have bikes & cars (marked & unmarked) hanging about ready for a pull.

not to derail but have the laws changed on traffic officers using handheld laser guns?

iirc, they're meant to be stood in full view when using the guns. There were two officers sat in a ford galaxy or s-max on the a66 coming out of middlesbrough where it joins with the a19 (currently roadworks/30mph limit), parked/hidden behind one of those "concrete barrier walls" with the guy in the front passenger seat leaning across the drivers seat and pointing it out of the drivers window? On mothers day sunday as well... *******s

As far as I'm aware paul they haven't changed but they've found a loophole.

If anyone ever goes through the '13 bends' between matlock/bakewell area and baslow there's a sneaky van at the baslow end completely invisible until you're upon them.

One that may be of particular use for the Barmouth or bust rideout, when entering Acrefair on the A539, just after you pass the AIR PRODUCTS factory on the left, van parked up on the right hand side of the road and because of the dip in the road you dont see it till it sees you. It is a 30mph all through the village with a flashing 30 reminder sign as you enter. Again there have been a number of accidents here and is one the the hotspots for the van.

Yup, they no longer have to announce where mobile camera's will be, and they no longer have to be in plain sight.

North Wales have drawn up plans to put speed camera's in cat's eyes. But I don't think that will take off.

To stay on topic (and within region... Paul... ) , A470 heading north into Llanrwst, they like to hide on the right just after the 30mph signs. Partly covered by a wall. 30 is 30 remember...

Its not so much of a hidden one but its sneaky as f**k my speeding points came from this van parked on the A653 heading into Dewsbury from the White Rose they get you as you come along the flat past the Pugeot Garage (thats where the picture showed my car when I requested the proof) despite the van been right on through the babes in the woods traffic lights past the dip and parked in the central island under the welcome to Dewsbury sign nearly half a mile down the road. Those who meet at the white bear may have indeed spotted this van already.

That spot has been a favourite for years! I grew up about 2miles from there!
