Default Excellent experience with the AA

Had to call out the AA today, got a couple of miles from home, stopped to inflate my tyres and the damn thing wouldn't start again. It wasn't a battery problem (think I've finally solved that) just the bike wouldn't even attempt to start. No click or anything. Despite my urge to just set it on fire and walk away (its been a frustrating first month of sv ownership) I rang the AA.

The guy from the AA arrived less than 40 minutes later, on a fully AA'd up Pan European no less. After complimenting me on a good choice of bike he set about finding the problem. Long story short, it was a fault with the clutch switch that I wouldn't have found in a month of Sundays. Fixed it there and then, but because I'd told him about the problems I'd been having with my battery he tested the whole charging system for me (I know its not a big job but he didn't have to do it) and confirmed what I thought, reg rec is fine, new battery should have solved the problem. Once it was running he commenting on how nice it sounded and went on his way.

An hour from the first phone call I was ready to ride away and he was a nice bloke, so top service all round I think.

Just thought I would share, as had he not been quite as helpful I may have been ready to push my SV into the canal by now.

Just remember he gets paid to act like that

In all fairness though it's a good feeling when someone's treated you with that level of respect. Least the problem wasn't too much of a job to fix!

Mine conked out today at some lights car next to me pulled up and said 'it dead?' I laughed and said yup he laughed (nicely) and drove off. 5 minutes later while I was stood there kicking it the same guy reappeared and he'd come back with jump leads! Although just as he did it started so I thanked him and he started to walk off, put it into gear and the lectrics died again so we checked the clutch switch it started up again we thought we'd solved it but it was still failing as I touched the brake so rode home with no brakes and luckily made it!
Makes you appreciated bikers in cages though. Nob head on the sprint and I competatively riding with didn't stop...gay.

Suppose, and my bike is held together by the blissful powers of my own ignorance
