Next Sunday picking up some new springs for the SV. Just wondering what tools will I be needing? Hopefully going to get it done next Sunday aswell - making assumptions it's not going to take too long.
Do I need to take the forks out of the yokes and away from the bike or can I do it where they are now (on the bike ![]() I have not seen the instructions yet so maybe this will all become clear in those, however, I am wanting to make sure I have everything ready. Had a quick look on the fourm but due to all the threads regarding fork spings was quite hard to find answers to my questions! Ta for the help ![]() |

tbh you dont need to remove the fairings..i wouldnt bother
Forks out - Simples Old springs out - Simples New fork seals - anoying! - but you prob wont be doing this..? Putting new fork springs in - simplily anoying - such a simple job but a pain in the ass due to compressing the spring to get the cap on Jack under the engine is cool remeber a block of wood tho! |

Don't need to take the fairings off. Clip-ons, three fork clamp bolts, and the big bugger for the pre-load/fork cap. All can be done with the fairing in place.

Air gap is model dependant. What model have you got

SV650S K1. What's best way to do the air gap? Would metal ruler type method word?
Sounds like it shouldn't be too tricky then and only a couple of hours worth of work at the most! I wasn't planning on doing new fork seals - literally just swap springs and oil. |

Air gap depends on springs used, your weight etc. and is highly dependant on personal preference.
A metal ruler is fine.
