Default Sidi B2's (Goretex)

Just bought a pair of these.

They're my first boots and only used them for 6 hours so can't really give a good review, but I'm pleased with them so far. Any advice on how to keep them nice and make them last please?

Be careful with the heel plastic on your bike's heel plates. My Sidis (black rains tho) rubbed the paint off my heel plates, making a mess of the plates and the boots.

If its not abrasive plastic then ignore me.

I have a pair of these and they are brilliant. i bought them cos i was doing a track day last year and the weather forecast was rain, rain and some more rain and not only were my black rains leaking but they just dont have any decent armour.

I wore these right thru last winter with all the snow and salt and they still look good as new.

As with any new leathery things i buy i give them a good rub down with Renapur (look it up on google but the best prices are always at bike shows) and when they were really salty after many winter commutes gave them a wash down in the bath, let em dry naturaly and then redid the Renapur on them.

They squeaked a bit on the "spine" but a dash of WD40 soon cured that.

Also Sidi now do replacment soles for these boots so when the time comes that i've worn the soles out, as long as its in the 5yr Goretex warranty of course, i'll re-sole them.

Not cheap boots, mine cost about £180 but when you consider the 5yr Goretex warranty then its a decent price for a very good boot, imho of course.

Yeah that's what I thought to myself £200 is alot but they should last!

That's great about the 5 year warranty, thanks for letting me know they didn't tell me that when I bought them. I've obviously kept the receipt is that all I need as proof if I ever need to send them to Sidi for a repair?

I'm going to Thruxton end of the month to watch the BS, do you reckon they will sell that Renapur there?

Don't think it's abrasive mate but thanks for the warning.

Was initially looking for the black rains but they didn't sell them there and didn't want to buy online, wanted to get a good fit without the hassels of sending em back if wrong.

If they are anything like the black rains then they'll be excellent. Sportier boots with bells and whistles will do more damage to your heel plates than those ever will.

Unfortunately my Black Rains were both very abrasive and very leaky. I think they may have improved the design since then though. On the plus side, the most comfortable boots i've ever had.

Hold on, let me clarify here. Its Goretex that guarantees any itme that uses their lining bt ony for waterproofness of course. If your zips break after a couple of years them dont bank on anyone doing anything about it. You'd have to have leakage and then contact Goretex who would probably want you to send them the item for inspection/testing and i believe they reserve the right to either mend or replace.

Renapur... i doubt it tbh, its manily at shows like Ally pally Bike Show or others of that type that ive seen em at. Its not cheap but it lasts a hell of a long time and is probably the best leather food and care product ive ever used.
i used to use Dubbin until i was told it damages and softens the stitching so i wont be using that anymore.

Ophic... black rains are alomts like long slippers when theyr worn in, i loved mine but since i ride all year round and they started leaking like a sieve they had to be retired sadly.
