Only a quick message to all those people who feel their not very mechanically competent.
I passed my motorbike test a year ago, and went straight to a SV650 restricted. Never touched or rode a bike before then so everything was fresh to me such as carbs?! Jets?! Shims?!?! To me they where either things you get when you eat or things that fly in the sky. My bike is a SV650S 99-02 with 44k miles on the clock. Cost me £700 at the time and if honest was scared of touching it mechanically. after few months noticed few things such as chain seemed loose, had to have choke on alot, front HT lead seemed not to seat properly and general wear and tear. So I thought sod it, gonna have a go at fixing these problems, garages wanted over £300 for just cleaning and balancing the carbs at one place ![]() So.... to sum this up, with this site and others, I was able to fix my bike up. Been on it all day today and yesterday and if honest not blowing my own trumpet, it handles better than when I bought it last year. So to help other people who are a bit effy about touchin' the beast heres a few helping bits what I used like the gospel. SV650 Haynes Manual http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_t...All-Categories SV650 How to http://www.svrider.com/tips/tips.htm SV650 John http://www.geocities.com/catpoopman/Johns_bike.html Carb Cleaning Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSn1ca5KEfo Carb Cleaning Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cmu4k...eature=related And to everyone on here a big thankyou for saving me lots and lots of ££££'s!! ![]() I do not take any responsbility for any damage caused to you or your bike by the way! |
