Best Bike Alarms ?

Hey guys/girls geting my bike in the next few days as some of you allready know and as my last one was stolen im not going to let it happen again .

I have been looking at the EXena disk lock alarms

but thought whats the point in paying 100 pounds + for a disk lock alaram when i can put the extra to and get a full alarm system and fitted.

So what makes models should i be looking for ?

How much should i be looking to pay i have been quoted from 270 to 350 pounds up 2 now .

You're better to use a bloody big chain. Or a dozen rottweilers.

Agree with Yorkie Chris. Spend your money on an Almax Chain and Lock set and chain your bike through the frame to an immovable object. You may find you can't get a 19mm chain through the frame in which case also get an Anti-Pinch Pin.

An Alarm just makes noise it doesn't stop your bike being picked up and thrown in a van quicker than you can get out of bed and put your pants on.

I've had two alarms, a Spyball and a Datatool System 3. I liked the Spyball and f***ing hate the Datatool.

The more layers of security that you have on your bike, the less likely it is to get nicked. As YC says, get a bloody big chain too. An alarm/immobiliser on its own isn't going to deter serious thieves, though it ought to put off casual ones.

come on guys .... i have got a Almax IV / on the way ..... £250 pounds worth, im not just getin an alaram im not that silly after my last bike was stolen and left me in 1000 pounds worth of debt .

i just need some alarms makes and what i should be looking at paying

Alarms don't stop determined thieves: they just toss a blanket over the bike to muffle the sound, pick it up and toss it into the back of a van. Physical security that stops them from moving the bike is a better deterrent, hence why people suggest Almax chains. Plenty of people have posted on here about how **** their alarms are, frequently going off for no reason in the middle of the night or immobilising the bike when they're trying to ride home.

Really, the only deterrent to theft is to own a bike no-one wants to nick.

little ****s steel any bike, i know a guy who had no handle bars on his scotter because he was doing some work on it and it was stolen and was seen on a local field with a yob on it with the rev cable in his hand and a wrench in the other as the handel bar !!

Good on you. My next question would be if you are going to secure your bike in such a way that it is close to impossible to walk away with why waste money on an alarm?

your right im jsut going to get the disk lock alarm. iv found one for 60 quid .. cheers

Determined/professional thieves will always find a way...
