Got this back from my brother a few months ago in a sorry state, and today I finally put the last pieces back on it, so now it's up for sale!
1997 Honda CG125. 3 previous owners, and I've owned it since 2007, when it only had about 9-10k on it. Now has 15169 miles on the clock, 3 of which it was pushed for recently to get it to and from mechanics. That was an experience in itself ![]() As said before, the bike wasn't in great condition when I got it back, so it's had (from front to back) New bars New mirrors New lever perches and levers New brake light switch New horn New exhaust New generator cover gasket New battery New chain New reg-plate as the other was cracked New rear spindle A little elaboration on why so much of this has been replaced. I lent the bike to my older brother as he didn't have the money for a bike. He bought an SV in November (unfortunately he got a pointy, but no accounting for taste), and after that the CG basically sat unused throughout the winter. I got it back in Feb rusted to all hell (although still running, god bless bullet-proof engines). The rear spindle had seized in place and had to be cut out, the generator cover gasket was letting in water (although not enough to affect the electrics) and the brake lights didn't work. Now it runs perfectly and all the lighting issues have been sorted. I've given it a full service (so fresh oil in there, clean filter and valve clearances checked) and the carb's been stripped and cleaned. Starts first time, every time. However! It's not in perfect condition (hence the relatively low asking price of £500). The rear plastics have some marks in the paintwork where a chain's been on the bike and rubbed, and the rear wheel was corroded to the point that some of the chrome has come off on the interior of the rim. It's a lot cleaner than when I got it, but not fantastic. Also the seat has a tear in it which has been covered with black duct-tape, which doesn't look too bad and holds it together perfectly. Also included in the sale is a Krall security chain and a haynes manual for all your servicing needs! Last edited by Neeja; 11-07-09 at 09:25 AM. |

Bomb-proof wee commuter for someone... I loved my missus' wee CG when she was learning, if they were 'just' that little big nippier I'd have had that!

I might have a possible buyer for you if this is still for sale? A lass the good lady works with has just done her CBT and is looking for a wee cheapy runner to learn on.

I've got a buyer lined up, just waiting till he gets paid at the weekend to see if the sale's going to complete. If not, davepreston put in a request for a friend of his...so your buyer's got 3rd refusal on it.
Bit of a way away from them though, isn't it? ![]() |

Back up for sale due to buyer pulling out. Think Davepreston's friend has first dibs, followed by JamesMio's friend...but at the end of the day, whoever puts cash in my hand first can have it. Annoyed with being messed about with my housemate who was the first buyer, so want to get rid of it so he can't change his mind and drag it out some more!
