Dodgy number plate? That'll be £60 please - SV650.org

That's right folks, the Government has decided to make illegal number plates and drivers/passengers not wearing a seatbelt a £60 fine. The fine is non-endorsable, so no points.

The DVLA have decided to have a crackdown on illegal plates and are very keen on enforcement. That means cars as well as bikes. They have issued guidelines on how to report repeat "offenders" to them for the consideratoin of withdrawing the plate.

This comes into effect on the 1st July this year.

I imagine some forces (did someone say North Wales?) will have an introductory purge.

Good, i dont mind slightly smaller plates on bikes, but when these c*cks in cars arrange the letters on their sh*t plates to spell their name with the aid of a badly placed screwhead or tape (which i have seen) it looks crap.
So, i hope they do get caught and locked up for years....

why arent these offences treat the same way as people that drop litter , smoke where they shouldnt and owners that allow their dogs to foul the paths. ie do nothing at all.. they'd make a fortune sorting out the dog mess round here and the litter

Why would you get up to 150 when all you need to find is a pair of bollards <2m apart?
