Default To SORN or not to SORN?

my MOT has run out on my bike, do I need to SORN it? i've gotta sort my chain out before I get it MOT'd, but it's not being ridden or anything, but it should be sorted within a week, so do i need to?

I looked on the DVLA website, at the FAQ bit, and it said this:

Yes. If your vehicle does not have a valid tax disc, you must declare SORN.
I have a valid tax disc, am I right to assume I don't need to SORN it?

i did a search but couldnt find anything like this

Thank you

You only need the mot to get a new tax disc. If you have a current disc, the bike can be parked on the public highway, but can only be ridden to and from a garage for the purpose of a PRE BOOKED mot.

So basically you don not sorn it. you only sorn if you are going to have the bike off the road for a while ie over winter. hth

sorn is only for taxing. MOT is to ride it on the road.
