Default Loose Chain - Engine juddering

My chain has become a bit loose today and I'm wondering if this has caused the problem I had today and have had before
When I'm slowing down using engine braking, in 3rd gear I think, the engine sort of judders then it's fine, then judders, then it's fine ...... etc
Is that caused by the slack in the chain?

Is the chain now at the correct tension?

No I haven't tightened it yet. It doesn't do it all the time. I'm pretty sure it's the chain causing the problem but want to confirm it. Is there was anything else that could cause the problem

Get the chain at the right tension and try riding the bike?
Likely it's the chain.

yup.. sounds like backlash... or you are putting the throttle on and off unaware, i sometimes do it going over bumpy roads.

if its happening at low revs then i would suspect its chain slap/backlash.
