Default which helmet????

right I am getting a new lid, I have narrowed it down to 2

1. arai viper gt this one http://www.helmetcity.co.uk/Arai-Vip...Red_AGEDV.aspx

or if Hein Gericke can get it

2. schuberth s1 pro like this one http://www.helmetcity.co.uk/Schubert...rey_AKMRO.aspx don't know if they can get different designs of these as they only have black and silver?

got to get it from HG as I have a half price voucher to use there

I know the schuberth is going to be the quietist but TBH I always wear ear plugs so that is not a issue but I do like the legal built in tinted visor, but prefer the design of the arai

what do I do as they both fit nice

Had an Arai Chaser but thought it a bit noisy. Got a Schuberth - brilliant, and you can always get it painted up how you want it, or even get Schuberth to paint it.

Schuberth are very good lids and very quiet, but do be aware that for most models, a replacement visor is.....(are you sitting down?)......around £80

To risk repeating myself, just go for the one that fits you better

well I'm afraid, it'll be Arai all the way for me, not only a name you can trust, but also the fact they have saved my life, the after sale service is the best you can get, I've had three helmets sent but for inspection, and been well surprised at the results (after all I'd expected them to just say "no need a new one" but the report said structurally sound).

the fit is ecellent (well on me anyway) and the lining is soft, yet supportive, unlike cheaper helmets it doesn't squash down either, in fact after washing my 5 year old ASTRO lining and trying it side by side with my new condor, they felt the same, so "as new" isn't just a saying here.

Cheers Mark.

You do know I take it, the RX7 and Viper are designated race helmets, so less consideration for noise is made, racers all use earplugs so ventilation is more important in this case, the chaser & condor range are quieter as they are designated road, although all are both road and track legal/allowable.

you pay you money for a top spec race lid, and guess what, that's exactly what you'll get; any decent seller should make you aware of that .

Cheers Mark.

After a slight mishap at significant speed the other day which involved landing on my shoulder and head, I'd say Arai every time.

My Astro R is barely marked - a couple of sidepods and a chin vent and I'm more than happy to wear it again - but I'll get it checked by Arai anyway (which is free, and a good enough reason to buy one alone).

However, as stated many times, a lid costing £50 which fits properly is always going to be better than a £500 lid which doesn't.

If you have an 'Arai head' get the Arai. If you have a 'Schuberth head', then get that.
