Default Speeding.....

Seems ive been done for it.
Althought a number of facts come to light

-stuck behind a car doing 25
-girl using gun was using one of the cheapo hand held ones ....as in no view finder so just a point and hope you hit it.
-Also was inbetween two cars and they say neither of them was speeding
-Also they seem to have a lack of evidence

Its all starting to sound like a joke to me
Any one in the know how??

Cheers brock.

A few more details will help out.

If it was just one person and you drove past unmolested, it's probably a community support thing and you'll be fine.

If you were pulled over and given a physical slip of paper then you'll already know the score. You can appeal it, but you'll want to make your mind up based on the facts at hand www.pepipoo.com has to be a good place to spend a little time if you've actually been handed a notice of prosecution.

The specifics are quite important here. Did they stop you at the time, if so what did they say?

How do you know what type of device it was. If laser then it's possible to do you in the circumstances described, if Muniquip (radar) then very unlikely.

How fast were you actually going? (You might not want to answer that if prosecution impendng...)

Ok was just ranting earlier but ill give you the story.

Doing 28mph exactly ( photographic memory really helps out )
Didnt get pulled just rode on past as its on a very hard right hand bend.
PCo i think as she was by heerself although there was one of those small transit vans parked off the main road i was traveling.
Radar as she stood right on the corner (could have reached out and touched her) ...just had a big grey dish on the front and new vewfinder

Got the letter through today saying "allegidly" i was speeding over 30, but just asking who the driver was.

Ive already filled it out and writen a cover note saying i state i wasnt speeding and cercumstances prove so.

Does all sound abit odd though....i thought they would have just issued it if i was speeding?? but why go to all this trouble if its just community police who got bored??

Sorry mate, that just doesn't add up. If it was a very tight bend then it's unlikely she was measuring the speed there, more likely 100m plus up the road, in which case if you were between two vehicles she hasn't got a chance of reading you, even with a laser. Lasers don't use a "big grey dish", neither do Muniquip devices. The BBC do, sure it wasn't the local radio station reporting on what she was doing?
The letter is standard practice, requirement from registered keeper for name and address of driver at time of alleged offence. If they are going to prosecute you should now get a conditional offer through. If it's a community "speed watch" thing they don't normally bother with the requirement, just send you a rude letter telling you to slow down. Their move now.

when i say big dish ... i mean small grey one about 3/4 inches across stuck to the front of a gun shaped object.
Hmmm things just dont add up and i got all grumpy earlier.

It sounds like they are just trying to get me to hush up and pay up over somthing i havent done. Didnt know community watch had vans though.
Suppose time will tell

Thanks for the help.
Brock.

Who exactly sent the letter? I'd be tempted to phone and ask what it's all about

Is it possible it's a bit of a con to try and scam fines out of people who get scared and pay without checking things out? All sounds very fishy to me...

Bad Boy, Bad Boy, watcha gonna do when they come for you.
ps when the mrs has had a letter through twice now, addressed to me as car is in my name, it informes you to cough up, ie pay the fine, or declare who was driving if it wasn't you. if it wasn't the same it could be one of those community ones hth.
