Default R/C plane and helicopter people

just from reading the forum i've noticed a few people on here seem to be into flying r/c planes and helicopters. my new found redundancy has seen me get more into it again. my brother and my dad have been flying for a while, but i've been going to indoor flying with them recently and got hooked again.

so i got my first 'proper' plane in years this week and hopefully off to fly this weekend! very excited. oh and got a wot 4 from someone in the club selling up (got it for £50 including servo's nicad and switch! bargain!)

so who else is into flying and what you got?

damn dan you got skills! i know it can be expensive, especially practising the stuff you do, theres not exactly much room for error! did you practise all your 3d stuff in a flight sim first or just through a bit of trial and error (and dare i say expensive write offs?!)

wideboy- whats your brothers name i'll prob have heard of him? my dad and bro go to quite a lot of shows and one of the guys in our club is runs IAD Designs, selling big yaks, caps sukhois etc.... his latest toy is a 1/2 or 1/3 scale decathlon, its going to have a 250cc petrol engine with its own onboard starter! v cool! its got a 15ft wing span!

my brothers had a few yaks, in fact i think he may even have had 2 extreme flight yaks, both binned!

Thanks malks, no I only got a sim recently. Been flying less than a year too (started in Jan). At the end of the day peoples learning curves are all different, I have got quite far as I have flown literally everyday since starting it in Jan and I have thrown a lot of money at it. It's a tough hobby at times, and a slight error can cost upto £400 when you get to the big nitro helis.

If you want to get into heli's start small though. I would get one of these little beauties, it's what I started with and flew for about 6 months. Still so much fun!
