Yep - its that time of year again ....
I made huge leaps forward last week buying new boots, and thermals - generally I'm warm (no more than that I'd say)..... but it still leaves my hands freezing cold !!! Heated grips are no good when its this cold ..... only doing about 35mins each way to work ... but mostly filtering stuff ... so fingers off grips alot ... ![]() So, which way next ... can't see the point in constantly spending small amounts on new gloves, muffs, etc ... if I can solve the problem with a few more quid ... Sorry to ramble on, and sorry for age old thread .... but heated gloves, or heated bodywarmer (or both) ... and which ones ?? Keis bodywarmer looks a bargain at £90 at the mo ... but EXO comes with lifetime guarentee (IIRC) ![]() |

Well ...... update ....
I've bought a pair of Biketek heated gloves .... £99 (+£6 delivery) ..... looks like a bargain as includes a switch controller ..... I'll update at some stage, and will be buying the inner jacket if they look good .... Nearly new Oxford heated grips will be on ebay before long !!!! Have to say they've been great .... but not in this weather !! |

my dad got the Keis bodywarmer one a year ago.
his rating? he says its really really good and well worth it. he doesn't wire his into bike battery but uses the one that you can buy with it. he rates it! |

Science says go for the bodywarmer. Keeping your main body "trunk" warm keeps the blood flowing to your extremeties. When it gets cold it restricts the blood flow to your natural radiators (arms and legs) to keep your vital organs going - natural defence mechanism.
You still need decent gloves of course but if your body is warm your circulatory system should be able to keep the central heating on to combat the wind chill. Or you can buy a car.

lol, good answer.
I agree with Flanders on the other bit though. the body warmer should do the trick, but oddly the gloves still seem the logical choice. eg. If I were going out to have a snow ball fight, I wouldnt be putting on an extra couple of jumpers to keep my hands from getting cold. |

The biggest problem being sat on a bike is that you're sat still. Oh and the 70mph windchill effect.

![]() Thats why I'm not convinced the bodywarmer idea works that well, as the circulation is slow when sat still .... and how hot would your body have to be to warm your hands !! I expect I'll be going heated gloves and jacket before too long .. Last edited by LK-SV; 16-12-09 at 01:45 PM. |

Test it, go out naked apart from a pair of heated gloves.
Come back get dressed, and remove the gloves. Go back out do the same route come back and decied which method was most the comfy. |
