I know nothing about them but hopefully all will be well and she recovers quickly.

When did she last lay?

If the vent is torn, they usually get an infection and pack up eating with the inevitable consequence. also watch for others pecking wound site.

Personally I would say that if you think that if there is any issue, Neck it.

Doesn't VT have some vetting background...?
Personally unless you're a bit attached to it (you did refer to it as a "she") I'd nurse it through to Thursday and stick it in the oven on Sunday!

She's inside, in an improvised run (boxes from the new Plasma) looking sorry for herself, ignoring us.

She's been dosed with Anusol - really! It shrinks the sorry swollen bum bits.

At least she's warm and dry now, there's a hot water bottle under her inside a bubble-wrap envelope.

Hopefully she'll survive the night.

Oh, and she won't be getting "necked" or shoved in the oven. As Ed says, ten year olds have issues with eating pets.

Pete.

Pete, I think you need to have a serious chat with your kids as to where their food comes from.

It can be done quite well explaining free ranging animals have a better quality of life and as a result taste nicer.
