Default How long for?

After reading a couple of other threads regarding changing bikes I was wondering how long the average biker keeps his/her bike for?
I bought my current bike Sprint ST s/hand 5 years ago and have covered about 30k miles in that time all for pleasure, currently on 39k miles

Roughly equating to a full service and a set of tyres each year plus other wear and tear essentials i.e brake pads
Kept in a garage and even though it has had two accidents in that time still looks in very good condition for a nine year old bike with TLC
Due to my age I am not even considering changing it and hopefully will give me a few more years good use yet.

There are plenty of bikes I like the look of but can't afford and apart from that I have either become very accustomed to my bike because I can't find another so comfortable that does what I want from a bike.

Just curious to others thoughts on the subject

I've had the SV for 6 years. Other bikes have been and gone but that one has remained. Now I have the YZF750 as well. It's my favourite bike and I won't be letting that go either. So I appear to just be collecting them. In years gone by I used to change my bike around every 3 years.

Had the SV for 2.5years, then the ZX-6R for just two years, the R1 is my fav looking bike of all time, i concider it a modern clasic, so will keep it forever now. and just buy an other road bike when i see fit, and a dedicated track bike.

SV 9 years
VFR 6 years
NC35#1 5 years
TDM850 3 years
NC34#2 2 years
NC35#3 1 year

I'm just going to sell the TDM and one NC35, the VFR does everything I need on the road and the SV & NC35's do everything I need on the track. I may buy an off-roader though.

I;ve had my SV over three and a half years now; im planning on buying a VFR this year. I'm not certain wht I;d do with my SV - i'd rather keep it, but I may not have room. I'm not sure who would want it though...whilst it is mechanically completly sound, cosmetically there are better bikes avaliable.
