Righto,
Just sold my CBR600 FY - advertised it and got offered what I paid last year - so sold and buyer collected today. Was pretty pleased with the Honda - just didnt stir my soul if that makes sense?! Would like some suggestions please for a new bike based on the following: * Novice Rider - 1yrs experience with 8 months on a 600 (2k riding) * 750cc Max Capacity * I am 5ft 11 - * Road/ Sports type * V Twin would be a plus or Triple * Budget £7K Max (Used) Criteria - Usual Sunday jaunts with the possibility of short touring over a wknd. Any ideas? Matt ![]() |

Ignore the 750cc max bit and get a speed triple

Stick with your 750 rating and ignore number of pots
GSXR 750 all round utility bike, flexible enough for road riding, exciting enough for track

A Decent newish GSXR750 fits your budget nicely. As would a Ducati 749S to.
I've ridden both, maybe the 749S is so touring friendly, but it depends how much luggage you wanna take with you. Both are huge fun to ride, The Ducati probably just edges it ride wise, but I find the GSXR more practical. Before anybody starts, the Ducati costs a little more to run but isnt hideously expensive IMHO and you'd be left with change out of your budget as well...

Depends how much of a novice, and whether you have lots of self control.
