My next door neighbour is having an extension built and the builders are starting to do my head in
![]() We have a joint passage way to get to the back gardens. The builders are coming through my front garden to get to the passage way as its quicker than going through my neigbours garden. Rather than confront them I put a HUGE plant pot to block the pathway so that they were forced to go through next doors, they have since 'moved' this out of the way. My wife works shifts and today is the first day she has been off while they have been working. We have 3 dogs, one being a very reactive Collie who is in a crate when left alone (they are all in crates when left alone) in the utility, she will go bonkers if anyone walks up the passage way. I take the dogs out mega early so the Mrs can have a lie in on her days off and then just put them back in there crates until she gets up. She was woken up today because the dogs were going mental, the builders heard them barking and started banging on our wall to make them kick off even more, this has really upset me more than anything. They must have thought no one was in bar the dogs. Lastly, she got up and calmed the poor dogs down, started doing her cleaning and opened the windows as wimmin do ![]() What do I do, as I'm about to lose the plot big time. Do I see my neighbour and tell him to sort it before I do OR Do I just see them when I get home for my lunch??? I really couldnt care less if I upset the neighbours as they are a pair of tossers. But no way on gods earth am I having my wife upset and dogs stressed out. Fire away... Last edited by PoRk ChOp; 02-03-10 at 11:45 AM. |

Speak to the site manager. If that fails, find out who the main contractor is and speak to them. Keep it polite to start with though. They may not even realise they are upsetting you yet.

They dont look like that big of an outfit TBH, it looks more like Terry from the pub with a few of his mates helping out.

talk to your nieghbour and remind him that that your garden is yours, not his for his workman to trample through, unless its shared access, then theres not a lot you can do, as you have to let em in. Then its a case of asking them to have a few manners.
I have to keep my gates free as I am in the middle house in a terrace. All my neighbours have to allow access through their gardens into mine, but I don't have to let them in mine ![]() Good job I have nice neighbours that let me wheel bikes in and out then!

If you see your naigbour as a tosser, chances are they mirror the sentement so having a word with them might be a waste of breath.
I'd have a word with the builders themselves, I wouldnt mention you put the pot there to shepherd them around your garden but I'd at least try and explain your misses works shifts. Obviously you cant expect them to build quietly (its a noisy busniess) but if they could keep the obsenaties down and try thier best not to aggrivate the dogs while using the passageway then you'd be most grateful. Tell them there's a bacon butty in it if they can help you out. Builders go nuts for buttys. |

Ditto - talk to them first especially about going through your garden and banging on your property. Acknowledge that the job will be noisy however explain your wife works shifts and a little consideration would be appreciated
If that doesn't work - ******* insert your own illegal activity |

lol @ the butties...bribery gets you everywhere especially when theres tea involved. But that only works when they are your builders, I chat to neighbours builders, and hint if they are peeing me off, usually works fine.
I dont see why Mr Chop should be handing out butties to keep other builders quiet.
