Default Spannerman equivalent Macc/Buxton area?

I have a crack in a side plate on a link in my chain.

First thoughts are take it to a garage, but I'm pretty loathed to, as I don't trust garages easily. I'm also aware though, that buying a cheap chain riveter is false economy and a recipe for disappointment and disaster.

So, if there's anyone local that would like to assist one evening or at some point through the weekend, that would be ace.

If not, can anyone recommend somewhere decent around these parts to get the job done?

Thoughts and suggestions please...

Probably a bit far/risky taking it that far and don't have access to a van...

Are they open weekends? As I could probably use breakdown cover to get me there.

Ahh this is easy to answer, F&B Tyres (Steve - 01270 760795) just outside Sandbach, he did my PR2's for 204 quid but also took the **** out of me for the price I paid for my break hoses and had a big pile of chains and sprockets next to his garage. I would give him a call and see what price he can do you and I bet it's a bloody good price.

Only saturday mornings IIRC, perhaps shorts' suggestion might be more convenient.

Yup. Will give him a buzz tomorrow. Any recommendations on chain and sprocket sets? I'm thinking along the lines of best quality as will be keeping this bike for some time.

Heavy duty DID & J&S (is it?) steel Sprockets - that's what I use anyway. People on the forum tend to recommend either (or both) DID & Tsubaki.

It's worth noting that I rate this guy a lot as well, only met him the once but after fitting my tyres he phoned me up to check that he had done a small bolt up (nothing major) as his torque wrench was set to the wrong setting than he thought it wound have been to do that bolt. It was fine but he phoned me up to check. That's service.

That is good - a lot would be pulling down their shutters as quick as possible!
The cynic in me would wonder if it was staged but don't listen to him.
p.s let me know when you want that tank mate (no rush - just don't forget)
