Default OK time to get rid of fanny bands.

i have been used to cbr 1ooo fh for so many years , big , slow turning. i have had the sv and have still got the same riding style. i am a bit wary of throwing it into corners and want to get rid of my bands. i was wondering just how good this machine is and have decided tomorrow is the day! any good advice about how it corners and what i should expect would be greatly appreciated. i have been out and thrown it about a bit but i am sure that there is so much more it can do . but being used to IL4 and going to 2 is a bit weird.
ideas?

Care, an understanding is the key. Forward planning and knowledge of a road also helps. Don;t try and do it, let it happen

Going out specifically to get rid of your chicken strips sounds dangerous!
What tyres have you got on it? Some tyres are just harder to do it on, I had a good cm+ on my old dunlops on the sv went to avon storms and on the first day of riding with them had had them right over on the rear. I was just riding as usual. Since had them right over on the front which I was told was physically impossible.

Edit: Some of the best & fastest riders I've seen still have chicken strips - it doesn't mean a lot.

Wait till spring when its warmer. Or book onto a trackday.

Not ideal conditions at the moment to be exploring the limits of adhesion especially if the roads around where you are are as badly surfaced as they are around here at the mo...

roads around here are not too bad, stafford only had about two days of snow this year. i have diablo rosso on front and rear, i just want to find out what this sv can do!and the sun is shining and i am bored of the megane and like i have said i am curious just how good this thing is, big man on a little bike so just apprehensive, fizz, i would love to do a trackday but i must admit i think i would be a complete tool on the track and a bit of a pain to others....lol. wolf i think i am better going to the right and have yet to fall off!
i dont know if it is just the tyres that make it seem like i do motorway miles as they have quite a rounded profile so hard to get them over as much as the dunlops i used to run on the cbr.

If you'd be a tool on the track and a pain to others just think what the paramedics/grieving family would think. Just enjoy riding, don't worry about chicken strips.

if it doesnt happen , it doesnt happen! and plenty of sensible advice for such a daft thread, maybe should have worded original query better instead of trusting the beer bypass valve to make a sensible post!
