While on the madlanders MESS rideout at easter, some nice person (not org i think and hope) decided to put a dink in my scorpian right by the back end near the rivets.
So, if i drill the rivets, lob off 25mm then re-rivet, job jobbed ![]() Never done this before but am experienced with metal bashing. Questions... Is there anything i should be aware of before starting? Stainless rivets to put it back together or alloy? Does it need to be sealed with anything prior to re-riveting end piece back on? Thanks for any help. Phil |

i have alloy rivets but you should use stainless, erm my can leaked after i re riveted it so removed end cap and bunged loads of sealant all the way around the end of the sleeve by the rivet holes and then pushed the end back on so is sealed now
you also need to cut the perforated tube make sure you cut the right amount off because if you guess it you might end up cutting more off than is needed |

I helped a friend do this a while back with his damaged akrapovic. He stripped it all out and re riveted it back up (unsure of what rivets). But while he has it cut down to size he got it powder coated (perhaps an idea?) which looked amazing on his FZ1 (dark red, black and gold theme).
He didnt put any kind of sealant on it when he put it back together, I guess just make sure it has no leaks and it'll be fine. His is fine and it was done about a year ago now Good luck! |

Is that the tube inside?
Why is that so critical ? so you can get the end piece back on? |

Ps. Do a blog on it with lots of pics for future searches...! I'd certainly like to see it as I just took my renegade off and plan to cut it down to

It meets with the end piece, it will also stop fluff coming out the end...

Has it got baffle too? Think when the previous owner shrunk mine, he did the same to the baffle, then hit the end of baffle with hammer to make it fit to the new size of the can.
Not that its ever been used ![]()
