Hey there I plan to use my 2000 SV650s for a spot of commuting, can anyone reccomend a good tyre for town riding with the odd run thrown in... I want something that will last as I'm not a quick rider, so super fast knee down is not essential....

Pilot Road 2's from my experience, but there's a few more worth recommending.
Check out the tyres section: http://forums.sv650.org/forumdisplay.php?f=138 |

Any Sports Touring tyre will be more than up to the job.
Fast warm up in cold/poor conditions but plenty of grip when you are out for fun and return a decent mileage before down to a few mill. and/or horribly squared off. |

I did a wee review of Continental Motions a wee while back (July last Year) but i think our 'Happy go Lucky with the eraser' Mod has deleted it in one of his go mad clean up ventures.
Anyways... I think they would be good for your needs.

I had had a wee look at the Continentals and thought they might be OK, but thought it would be good to ask before parting with cash... I know there not well known for road bikes but I had seen a few people have good word for Maxxis tyres althought they seem more budget? Just trying to avoid being too square tooo quick!! (tyres that is...)

I have only done a couple of thou on the motions but they have trundled all the way down to essex and half way back on the motorway and don't appear to be getting square. Plenty of tread left as well at the mo.

I run Michelen PR2's, getting 5-6K rear and 10-12K for a front.
Sticky enough for hard(ish) road riding and good mileage. But any sports touring tyre will do you... |
