I Have had problems with my bike it seems to be going to 1 cylinder every ride out now after a few miles you will feel it loose power and really pull the throttle back to make it fire back on 2 and this doesn't always work. After this when you come to a stop the bike will cut out and take a bit of starting.
To eliminate the cause I have 1. Changed both spark plugs (this didn't change anything) 2. Cleaned the little filter that just pokes in the tank a bit, as it had bits of rust on it (this didn't change much just meant that the bike wouldn't start at all and I flattened the battery) 3. Gave the battery a full charge (bike still wouldn't start but was trying) 4. Checked for water in the tank by doing the tests with the pipes going in and out of the pump( there is no water in the fuel and the fuel pump is working fine) After re-attaching the pipes the bike then started I haven't had chance to run it yet but what would be best to look at next? as I can't see that taking fuel pipes of and reattaching has fixed the problem Last edited by ferret23; 18-05-10 at 05:11 PM. |

Did you mean the filter was clogged up with carp?If so maybe some has got into the carbs and causing fuel starvation. You could drain the carbs and see what comes out.

yes the filter underneath the tank which also just sits inside the tank was almost an orange rusty colour so I blasted it off with carb cleaner. How do you drain the carbs all the smaller bikes I have tinkered with were easy to take off ond clean the carba on the sv look a bit more complex any advice? because them drain plugs don't look easy to get at. Also I took the airfilter off then ran out of time but the box which the airfilter sits in looks a pain to take off also due to the screws sitting underneath facing downwards?????

certainly sounds like a carb issue.

I am in cheshire, yes someone else has mentioned the choke plungers is this an easy fix? I think messing with the carbs is a bit beyond my capabilities. I think I am going to try and take it to the suzuki garage tomorrow
