Default Front brake issue

It's got a flat spot. Pull it on and get braking, great. Then pull a little harder, bike still moves forwards meaning I have to then squeeze it really hard to get it to stop. Have used rear brake to help make up for it but am not going to ride again until it's sorted.

Only noticed it yesterday, before the whole bailer twine/rear locking up incident, so not that.

The pads and disks are fine, plenty of life left, the brake lever is fine. When fully engaged there's still a good 2.5cm between it and the bar at least.

Brake lines look like they could be original but never had a problem before yesterday.....brakes have always been good.

Any ideas???

Hiya, just a thought, but have you tried replacing the brake fluid and bleeding the full circuit, thats all I can think of.

Hope you get it sort'd soon

From your description, could it be glazed pads? How old are they How abused are they take them out, rub them on some clean smooth tarmac/concrete or spray with brake cleaner - whatever you're happy with doing.

I'll give them a good clean, check the pads and run some new fluid through them.

Check master cylinder pivot is nice and free. You sometimes get uneven friction in middle of stroke somewhere.

General service of full system should sort it.
