Default I'm on holiday again!

Doing a RYA level 1 and 2 course, we're in Falmouth reminding ourselves how to sail a dinghy. Did similar in 1992 when we lived in Plymouth, but never took it further. Have got soaked every day so far, not from capsizing I would add Went and bought wetsuits as we were fed up of sitting in wet clothes, Gul £140 - no thanks - £35 for an OK one in Trago Mills (south-westerners on here will know it). Mind, when you're sailing close hauled (ie close to the wind) and it gets squally, the boat races along and it's great fun as it tips up and you have to sit on the edge and lean out to balance it and stop it going over, but even so the water tips in over the other side So who cares about rain and getting wet I want a trapeze but the Bosun we're sailing doesn't have one

We've done a lot of tacking and gybing, did man overboard and tying up alongside another boat today. With a bit of luck, tomoz we'll be let loose without the instructor in the boat and we can get out further into the harbour, and Friday maybe even across to St Mawes, depends on how strong the wind is, we had up to Force 5 today which made life interesting

Such terrific fun

have you been hit by the boom yet?

Trago's - Legendary! I don't think I have ever walked in there and come out empty handed

I did my RYA 1 aaaages ago when I was younger and before I started spending pennies on 2 wheeled wonders! Been meaning to do a refresher here in Wellington, but given the wind we get, dinghy sailing is a bit of an extreme sport 90% of the time!

Ah yes, the joys of Trago's "smaller in-town store"

Winds up a bit today - should be fun

Stopping with 85yo MIL

Course wasn't pricey and neither was the Alps trip. I will be able to explain it all a bit more fully soon....

Wind today was fantastic until about 3pm when it got stronger and gusty, we were sailing figures of 8 around the steel piles for the new pontoon that they are about to add at Port Pendennis Marina, and also a triangular course around some buoys that the instructor dropped in the water, so a tack, then a change of direction, then a gybe. It was huge fun, got soaked as every day

There were a pile of folks on Custom House Quay waiting for the St Mawes ferry, all watching us, and two of them decided that we were having such huge fun (could probably hear all the squawking and laughing on the boat) that they went down to the the office and signed up for a course

Tomoz we have to do a capsize (so as to learn how to recover it) - which will mean going further out to the outer harbour as there's too much traffic in the inner harbour. Then we do what we like, so perhaps we will get to St Mawes

Next, I got to learn how to sea fish as then I can catch my dinner

Why not buy a harpoon gun instead, i hear shark steak is very tasty, so learn to capsize and shoot your tea in one easy lesson. easy peasy

Daryl.
