Default Open up the grid!

Following the very interesting article in Bike mag this month about where riders would qualify if the WSB's and MotoGP bikes were on the same track, I'd love to see this happen as a one off at the end of the year.

Shame it'll never happen. Cal Crutchlow would be in 5th position on the grid! and Suzukis WSB bikes would wipe the floor with its GP bikes!

It'd be a start if they had a full set of MotoGP riders on the grid. It's half empty and riders like Elias haven't even got a premier class ride!

Yes, it was rather spartan this morning

Very true, but the only way thats gonna happen is if the change the rules and bring the costs down.

the new 1000cc rules, look like a start, but I'd like to see all th eletronics scrubbed, it'd make things cheaper and I also think it would bring back some of the spectacle.

Why is the racing in moto 2 so good, bikes are relatively close in performance and the grids are full, thats what we need in motogp...

When you compare it to F1, I think Moto Gp has got the sport:advertising balance wrong which make it virtually impossible for an independent to go in there and make a fist of it. It is all about selling road bikes, which isn't solely the case for F1.

Whilst I see your point, is Moto GP not supposed to be the pinnacle of prototype racing? I think they should be allowed any gizzmos and widgets they can invent to give them the racing edge. Unfortunately, bikers are a fairly conservative bunch and the gizzmos won't feed through to road bikes without opposition.

It is. But surely theres a balance between technology and spectacle. I think its gone like F1 a few years back, to much technology not enough spectacle.

Imagine what it might be like with multiple tyre manufacturers throwing the balance out even further.

I agree that as a spectacle the closer you get to one-make racing the better. I guess you have to accept that you won't get that kind of entertainment when you watch MotoGP, so they should at least make the bikes a bit more spectacular again.
