Question Skiing - Your highlights?

Now the summer season of motorbikes and sizzling tarmac is drawing to a close, no more sunlight and sparky sliders.

Soon the snow will be falling and the skis will be appearing, that squeak of dry powder, the crunch of hard packed piste. So what has been your best ski experience and why? Where to head for a couple of winter weeks?

All I remember about going skiing is falling 12 feet head first out of a helicopter in Norway and landing badly with a 50lb bergen and an SLR (Self loading rifle) that broke my arm. I got an infection and was rushed to hospital rather rapidly. The two days inbetween the accident and the airlift out are nothing but a very hazy and patchy memory.

I'm a ski virgin. Got my first trip this coming Christmas. I'm going to Livigno, Italy. Apparently it's very good for beginners and intermediates. Paying €50 pppn half board including passes. We're driving over mid December and returning the day after boxing day.

Off to TK Maxx this morning to look for ski ware, any advice.

Meribel in the Three Valleys a few years ago. First couple of days were warm, dry and I was sweating in just a t-shirt under my jacket.

Then it snowed, alot. Was bl**dy awesome few days after that, didnt snow much during the day but heavy falls at night. We were gettng up early and getting the first chair lift up and making fresh tracks on the way down, were some nice pieces of off piste that had a huge heavy covering of snow on. I was boarding, was absolutly brilliant.
