Rode in to work as usual this morning since forecast was looking OK last night, snow on higher ground possible was what I had heard.
Starting snowing in Leeds on and off from about 9, was wondering whether to bail, but forecast was to turn to rain later. Then it started to get worse and I got a text from bro in law telling me coming down fast in Halifax where I live, decided to leave and set off at 11. Got home at 1. 2 hours for 16 miles. A certain part of me is yet to unpucker. A scary two hours. Decided on A58 rather than motorway, which in hindsight was probably a bad idea. Spent two hours telling myself 'relax arms, no front brake, keep momentum' and wishing it was 19 years ago and I was on my old Yam DT. Got a bit cocky closer in to Halifax and filtered past some of the gridlock, but when the bike started to gently fishtail going up an incline I quickly gave up that game and got back in to a tyre track. Went past a poor guy on an old CBR (I think, did not dare take eyes of road ahead to see exactly what bike it was) a little outside Leeds, both feet down, back wheel spinning and hardly moving apart from sideways. Would have stopped if there was any way I could have helped. Hope he made it wherever he was going. Having got home OK, I then put the bike down trying to bump it up a little curb in my front yard, back wheel spun out and I didn't catch it in time, idiot. No damage fortunately. If anyone else was/is out in it, hope your journey safe. |

It makes me laugh, Peg called half hr ago, saying hes the only one in the dept today due to people not turning up, saying the weather makes it so.
Funny that, as you know I live in HX, and he works in Bradford, this morning there wasn't owt here.....did they have a crystal ball to be lazy and pretend to have a big snow fall, just over them? So hes sat there at work, thankfully he didn't take the bike, hopefully other traffic will have paved his way home, when he finishes at seven. Funny how the person that lives the furthest from work, always makes it there!
