OK you lot, many seem to have previously rode around the continental roads, have booked my trip for April, but need a recommendation of a place to stay overnight near the Millau bridge/viaduct.
Will be coming from near Lourdes, so ideally, about 20 miles ish north of Millau would be perfect for my needs. Drop me a note on here if you have any websites etc. that i can look at Ta very muchly, OG |

Og, you do know a lot of the passes will be closed don't you?
There is still a lot of snow around then apparently. |

We stayed in Carcassone, which is not too far from Millau and well worth spending a day to have a look around.
We stayed here - very cheap, clean big apartments with a swimming pool, 5 minute walk from the medieval city

Dont miss the Gorges Du Tarn upstream from the Millau Bridge, you can see the road that runs alongside the river.
Also the village of Peyre built into the cliff face a mile or two downstream from the bridge is worth a visit, and the church in Peyre is a good place to get a view of the bridge. Here is a route to the Millau bridge from the A75 that goes via the Gorge du Tarn, but the whole of the National Park (Cevennes) is worth a visit if you have the time. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&so...,1.783905&z=10 |

Dunno if it relevant to you, but camping down there is bally expensive! Although a lot French campsites are partially closed until June... I camped so cannot help with B&B.
Ralph is right about the Gorges du Tarn road, freaking awesome. Plenty of other twisty roads thereabouts to. You can easily get lost in the Cevannes - or at least I did - and lose a lot of time. |
