Default Right foot peg - straightening it?

Housemate went outside, came back in saying my bike was on it's side. Went out sure enough it's over. It was windy, but nowhere windy enough toblow it over, suggesting it was nudged by a car

Bar end bold was bent, that can be replaced. However, my question is, the right footpeg and brake lever is bent. Can it be bent back? Or will it be made too weak and needs replacing? (can't post any pics until maybe tomorrow)

Cheers
Dan

Nine times out of ten, trying to straighten die cast parts will snap them. This applies to brake levers, clutch levers and brake pedals.

I'm not sure about the foot peg.

I would perhaps try the brake lever, but not the footpeg.Sometimes the peg can be cut off thus shortening the rear brake lever, then drill it and put a bolt through with petrol pipe on it.

Look on eBay, you might be able to knock some of the breakers down on prices at this time of year.

If you have a blowtorch, then you have a fair chance on the leaver/s.

Basically take it off the bike, heat it enough so that when you rub a bar of soap on it, it turns black, then let it cool. You then have one chance to safely bend it back (vice and appropriate length of bending tube).

The process is called annealing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annealing_%28metallurgy%29

If you bend it when hot or before heating then it WILL break!

Hope that helps!

Suggesting I replace the whole rear set? peg and lever?
The bike is ride-able ish, will be better once the bar end is sorted out.
Is there anything i should be looking out for as the bike has had a hard drop on its side and sat there for an unknown time (but not more than 2 hrs)

Here are some pics of the footpeg:

Think that should be fine to ride on until it can be replaced?
