Question Digital MFP - Copier Click Charges

Our current leasing contract has come to an end, and have since be given a revised 3 year term.
Although the Partners of the firm don't really want to enter into another leasing agreement if they can help it, and so have asked me the following:-
  1. The pro' & cons behind copier click charges?
  2. Do they really pay for the servicing / labour / parts?
  3. Is it worth investing in buying the units outright / and suck it see on the servicing / Labour charges - that the click charges amount to.
  4. Currently we are being charged around 7p for a Colour A4, and 1p for A4 B&W.
  5. Click Charges in any 1 month could be between £250-400
  6. The MFP in question, are 2 x B&W units, and 1 x Colour Units with an External Fiery RIP.
Thanks, any help would be greatful.

We are to abandon our provider after about 20 years using them (biggest provider in the western world I would guess). As a company I would guess we have at least 1000 colour MFP devices. The major issue is we have imaging routing based on this companies devices.

Benefits, when they fail, it costs big style. Having somebody in within an hour is a major plus, but with 5 devices in an office using another on a different floor is hardly the end of the world. only having one sort of device means consumables/storage/utilisation is managed. Disadvantage cost hence the reason we are going to another manufacturer who has agreed to be less than our current provider for the same service.

Lloydie - my quarterly clicks come to £9k!!!

Don't buy, the technology becomes out of date very quickly and you'll want them out of the door after 3 years...if you purchase them you will feel obliged to keep them much longer.

Even if you purchase you can take a consumables and service inclusive click charge. Come for a visit mate, I'll even show you the 'follow me print' set-up...

Our click charges are lower than your but we have a higher throughput I suspect and we are public sector.

This is about getting the right printers; quantity, throughput and lease time. Get these right and you will get the best cost on leasing. Given the number of printers concerned I would buy not lease.
