Default Riding Without Tax And An MOT

How far can I go?

Need to get the bike MOTed and Taxed following its resurrection. Now I know its legal to ride the unMOTed unTaxed bike to the MOT station and then to get Tax provided I am insured (which I am) and provided the test is prebooked (which it will be), but how far am I allowed to ride it? The reason I ask is the bike is in Chippenham and the place I've been getting MOT's from for the past 5 years is in Swindon (about 30 miles, one junction up the M4) and I'd like to carry on using them...

You are allowed ONLY to ride to and from a booked MOT via the most direct route. You cant use it to collect the tax even.

Steve, there is no distance defined for it. As long as you go straight to the prebooked test.

Yes there's no distance stipulated. If you got pulled I dont know if it would wash though...

If you park it up to go and get the tax its an offence....technically.

My boss got done a couple of years ago whilst getting his new tax disc for no tax as his previous had runout. And no, he didnt get away with it...

Seriously is it worth it, just to use a certain MOT place?

Hey dude how's tricks? Must catch up soonest!

Anyhow in answer to your question, if all is prebooked you will be fine! Get tax on the way home after MOT is done! it would take a very perdantic officer to do you it in Wiltshire unless they are Traffic having a bad day .

You've got the insurance, pre booked MOT and getting tax (revenue issue not really a police issue) on the way home, no drama's

Thanks. But when I get pulled expect a phone call from the arresting officer...

I see what you're saying but so long as its legal I'd like to. The place I use is a small independent, I've always had good service from them in the past so I'd like to repay the favor.
