Default SV650 Buying advice please.

First up.
Hi everyone, long time lurker first time poster!

*Touch Wood* buying a sv650 this weekend so i thought it was about time i sign up if i need advice etc.

Now the main reason for this thread.
As i said, hopefully buying my first bike this sunday.

Black 07 sv650, semi faired, 2.3k miles, asking price is £3.3k at a dealership.

Iv been looking around at sv650s for a fair while now and im pretty confident its a good buy, almost suprised with the price if im honest.
Anyway, i was mainly looking for some advice.

Iv not yet passed the mod2 so unfortunately i cant test ride it, but what should i be looking out for, does the price seem too good to be true?

Lots of questions and i know its rather open ended sorry and you must get this all the time but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Rich

Check the ads on MCN , you can select the bike model and year. £3.3k looks a bit over the average asking price for an 07 with low miles, there are plenty asking more like £3k.

It's a buyer's market, so drive a hard bargain.

i paid 3150 for a 08 full faired last year. Its a dealers price. you could get cheaper if you patient and browse about. I would expect to get a bike with all the accessories( crash bungs, tail tidy etc) already fitted for that price. Dont rush into it!!!!!!!

I'll test it for you after I've picked mine up today if you want?
I've just paid £3.6k for an 08 K7 with 4800 miles on, FSH and very clean, you lot make me feel that's not a good price anymore!

There have been a couple of 2007 SV650's on eBay that have sold for £2k in the last couple of weeks, a black faired bike and a blue naked both with about 8k miles on them. £3.3k seems OTT, even for a dealer.

hi everyone!
thanks for all the advice, its a great help.
I've spent ages trawling through mcn/ebay/auto trader ect and im finding it really hard to find exactly what i want, it seems like the longer i wait the more bikes that i consider going to look at get sold!

I have seen some other newer black ones but they arent quite what i want, scuffed silver wheels, apparently not as well looked after.

How much do black wheels cost?

Also i had seen that black one on ebay, but benfleet is just too far away from me otherwise it would have been perfect!

again thanks alot its been a real help!
Im looking at getting the side lowers off ebay and fitting them asap if i do get this bike though.
anyone had experience fitting them? how difficult is it?

find someone to go get it for you - take the trip. If you save £300 or so you could put that towards your insurance or kit. I was shocked at the outlay needed to get myself setup with bike, kit, insurance and accessories. I would consider bikes nationally just to have the excuse of riding it home. You will always remeber that ride!!!!
