Default colour coded fuel nozzles

Is it a local thing? round here we have black for diesel, green for unleaded and been a while since I last saw it, red for proper petrol. even the pipes are colour coded in some places.

Out on yesterdays bimble, I called in at Morrisons at Kendal for a refuel both diesel and unleaded were black. No indication apart from the position the nozzle were place on the pump. I had to do a triple check to ensure I was not going to be doing a Pete. What if some young scallywag was to swap the nozzle in the pump holders?

So it it only a local thing to my area?

Well that's just silly. I have occasionally seen diesel in yellow I think but beyond that odd occurrence down in my south-west corner (and as far as I can recall in every other blighted corner of this land I've lived in) your colour codes look familiar.

edit: just a thought, remember when we had 2-star as well. And it were all fields round 'ere :gulp:

I seen this in florida a couple of years back, 2 garages, less than a mile apart had green, yes green for diesel
I couldnt compute it, i had hired a petrol car, used to diesels over here, it was too much for me to take in.
Next garage up the road had them the right way round
