I am new to tires and stuff and I use my Sv 650s (K6) all year round. I had a set of Birdgestone Bt101's on it when I got it, and back tire went. Cash strapped and unable to afford another BT101 I got a Maxxis supersport tire for it and I guess it worked alright considering mismatched tires. I am looking at

A number of threads already about Maxxis. Both the Supermaxx and sport touring (whatever they're called). I've had both and rate both. Others have a different opinion, but for me they are spot on for the SV.

Classed as budget tyres, but I love em to bits. I'm on my 3rd set on Custard & have had lots of fun on them. Distinct lack of Chicken strips lol.

Mine are fine in the wet, at first I thought they were rubbish, but think that was me, in the dry they are fantastic for the money.
Rear has done about 10k miles and still plenty left, even with my rubbish daily commute squaring them off a bit. |

On my 2nd set of them and I'd rate them as highly as the Avon Storms I had on before. I ride the bike just as hard in the corners, wet or dry with the Maxxis tyres as I did with the Avons.

Personally I don't give a damn' what they call themselves. The proof of the pudding is in the eating as the old saying goes. If people are more concerned about the country of manufacture or even the name on the side of the tyre over the ability and performance of the tyre then I'd say that's a bit of a shame. For a number of us on this forum who have actually fitted and ridden extensively on these tyres it's the performance that counts rather than some perceived notion of manufacturing or stylistic inferiority.
