I see that the GSR600 has a retuned GSXR600 engine from about 2004.
As anyone owned one or know if they are any good? Cheers ![]() |

retuned = detuned in this case, down to 88bhp which is only a tiny bit more than the later 650 Bandit.

The new one has a de tuned gsxr 750 engine K5 if i remember rightly
I chose a Z750 over the gsr600 back in 2007 but never rode the bike that much. Just borrowed for an hour for test ride. IMO didn't look as good as the Z or as much fun Last edited by cb1000rsteve; 04-04-11 at 08:38 AM. |

Hi
Imo its a cracking little bike sadly overlooked although it makes a good buy, had mine a couple of years now and plan to keep it for a long time yet. Nothing in it performance wise between the Z and the GSR although the GSR has reportedly slightly better suspension. As for it not having much more to offer than the Bandit this always makes me smile. I commute on a Bandit and apart from being Suzukis they have nothing in common. The GSR is much lighter much faster has better handling better brakes a more agressive riding position makes for a lot of fun on the right roads. As for being detuned yes in a way it is detuned in the same way a Hornet/Fazer is but on the plus side its got more midrange and between 10,000 and 14,000 rpm it pulls very well. All the above is only in my opinion obv. |

I tried one. Wasn't particularly impressed TBH, the suspension isn't as good as a GSXR, but better than an SV. The engine doesn't have the poke of something torquey or the top end entertainment of a sports 600 but it's fairly "nice".
Personally I would say putting some proper handlebars on a GSXR would be a better package and probably cheaper too.

Well I went to see the GSR at the local dealers where I buy all my bikes at 11:00 today. Got a really good deal and by 14:00 I was riding away on my new GSR with an MOT and service done in-between. As usual from there I got a really good deal.
It feels so smooth after owning the SV1000 and feels much smaller I length but slot wider. It just pulls from 6k revs and it's good to have a petrol guage and gear indicator ![]() It's on 06 an has 3200 miles on the clock so hardly used and In really good condition A very under rated bike. I will post some pics Last edited by Baggy; 04-04-11 at 07:34 PM. |
