Sk6 Exhaust gasket - SV650.org

Hi all i was removeing front down pipe from k6 650 today and this part http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-SUZUKI-SV6...item43a60c6520 disintigrated as i removed the part, i cant really wait for delivery on this item and local dealers dont have one. I have some exhaust tape and was conidering wraping this around the down pipe unit it fits snug with rest of the sytem and tighten up, idea that should work? or just conceed defeat and wait for a part?, Dom

Hows about some pics? - i took apart my exhaust (like a madman!). K3 16.5k miles and it didnt fall to bits. As far as i could see it'll fit snuggly back in. Thats what these gaskets are made to do (they mould to the right shape and stay there). Has the exhaust been taken apart before?, if so then i'd understand why it has.

I don't see any harm in saying what your are going to do unless its going to be messy and cause hassle/damage when you want to re-fit the right parts, plus if its for an mot then will it pass if you 'botch job' it?

K3 Job c.v: Engine:remove/split/rebuild/refit. Replace:Gearbox,Fuel pump,Gaskets. Piston clean,rings. Overhaul:Throttle body,Injectors,Brakes,Forks. Remove/refit:Exhaust,Radiator,Oil cooler,Throttle,Air filter,Tank. Replace: Oil,Coolant,grease,brake hoses & bleed. Last edited by muzikill; 10-04-11 at 09:40 AM.
